2009 Dayton Indoor Drumline Photos taken by Melissa Breen 2009-2010 Indoor Drumline This year’s show is going to be called VIRTUEosity (or something very similar) and we are going to explore the virtues of a physical, mental, and cultural variety through the music of Tchaikovsky. The movements will be: Physical (ability, endurance) – Finale from Tchaikovsky 4 Mental (creativity, humor) - Andante from Tchaikovsky 5 Cultural (unity, perseverance) - 1812 Overture – Tcahikovsky There will of course be additions and tweaks as we go as in any indoor season, but that is the general idea. The students have already put down drill and learned the music for the first 2 movements and things are going very well. DATES Regular Tuesday/Wednesday rehearsals will continue all year with the exception of February 23rd (pre-festival concert) and March 2nd/3rd (taking the week off for the Indy trip) The competitions are: February 20th – Powhatan HS – Powhatan, VA March 20th – Clearview Regional HS – Mulicia Hill, NJ March 27th-28th – Great Bridge/Hickory HS – Virginia Beach VA – AIA Finals! Please note that these competitions are ALL DAY events as listed on the schedule. We will rehearse in the mornings if possible beforehand to get some gym time and when we return varies greatly. I will do my best to get you approximate times for each competition 2 weeks ahead of time (when our performance times are generally posted). It is not unheard of for us to return in the AM hours from the longer trips. DRIVERS As with each season we are relying on our parent drivers to take us to each competition. This cuts down on the fees a substantial amount for this activity. We will need 6-7 drivers for each competition. This is something that everyone receives the financial break for so I would please ask that each parent make an effort to drive to 1 or 2 shows. I truly appreciate you giving your time to help the students participate in this event! Each student will be bringing home a driver permission form that I need you to fill out if you plan on driving to any of the competitions this year. This will save us from filling out the same form multiple times. EQUIPMENT TRUCK I am looking for a few other drivers to help with the equipment truck. If you are interested please indicate to me on the reply! FEES As listed on the commitment letter the first fee of $200 is due by the end of this month. The final payment of $100 is due by March 1st.
