FUNDRAISING
How Band Parents FUNDRAISE for the West Potomac HS Band.
The West Potomac Band Patrons Organization, a 501(c)(3), is the fundraising arm of the band. Each year we raise $$$ that greatly enhance the band program. If there’s an area where you’d like to help please email the chairperson using the links below so that they can add your name to their team. Otherwise, just keep an eye out for weekly band emails that detail our current needs.
Football Concessions (September, October, November):
Band parents staff the concession stand at all Varsity, JV, and Freshmen home games. Band students also can volunteer at JV/Freshmen games. We need 13+ adult volunteers each shift at varsity games and 5 volunteers each shift at the Freshman/JV games. A member of each band family should plan to volunteer for 3 shifts in the concession stand during the season. ( Many hands make light work)
Performing Arts Department TAG DAY (usually September):
West Potomac Performing Arts Department students -- band, chorus, guitar, orchestra and theater -- canvas the West Potomac Community asking for donations. Parents are needed to drive student groups to community areas & staff the registration desk.
Support with a Donation:
Of course, a wonderful way to support our efforts is with a simple, old-fashioned donation! There is a pay pal button at the top of the page for your convenience. You’ll find your name in lights (okay, well, at least printed in the concert bulletins!) if you go above and beyond! See the “levels of giving” on our home page.
Car Wash (August & Spring):
Bring your cars, your neighbors’ cars, and your friends’ cars for a great wash. Students do the work and parents supervise and donate food and drink.
Band Spirit wear (Potluck/Varsity Football Games):
Band T-shirts & hoodies are available. Sellers needed for Varsity games.
Restaurant Nights:
We have a handful of these every year, and it’s always a fun, easy way to gather together and raise money for band.
Indoor Drumline Competition:
Some years, we host an Indoor Drumline/Guard Competition. Parents & band students sell tickets and concessions, direct traffic, monitor warmup rooms and the performance floor.
Cutting Scholarship Fund March Madness Concert:
Our band puts on a great concert of fabulous marches and it’s a great night to donate to the band’s scholarship fund. Much fun is had watching guest conductors lead the famous Stars and Stripes Forever. All donations support the Cutting Fund, the band’s scholarship fund.
